Kindom Animalia
Phylum Chordata
Subphyum Vertebrata
Class Mammalia
Order Carnivora
Family Felidae
Genus Panthera
Species Pardus (Leopard)
In the taxonomy or scientific classification, the leopard (pardus) belongs to panthera genus which is also known as great cats. Only four big cats – tigers, lions, jaguars, and leopards – are classified as panthera genus. All big cats are members of the felidae family which includes all cats. Cats are mammals. Mammals are warm-blooded animals with backbones. Their bodies stay about the same temperatures even when the temperatures of their surroundings changes. Baby mammals nurse or drink milk from their mothers. Most mammals are covered with hair or fur.
